How To Create
the Perfect Blog Post
in
2022
Do you want to create the perfect blog post?
Creating a blog post like that will open up opportunities to get more readers, subscribers, and followers. It can lead to more sales. It can lead to more social fans.
But with so much competition, how can you make the perfect blog post in 2022 and beyond?
Relax, my friend; it isn’t as challenging as you might think. It all boils down to turning your strategy into a consistent habit. If you do things the same way using the best methods, it will only get easier as time goes on.
Let me show you how to create the perfect blog post!
A Perfect Blog Post Needs a Perfect Topic
The first thing you’ll want to do to make the best blog post you can make is to come up with the best topic to write about.
This comes into play with your blog’s topic (or niche). What is your blog about? Determine that and create posts around topics that directly relate to your niche.
But in this scenario, your topic needs to be a set of keywords you’ll target with your perfect blog post.
Search Google using your targeted keywords and see if there are some good results for it. This will let you know if it is being searched for or not.
Research the Topic (Keyword Research)
I will tell you straight up that using a tool such as SEMRush or Uber-Suggest will be a lot easier to research keywords. But sometimes, the price tags on those tools are a bit steep.
You can manually research keywords as an alternative to expensive web tools.
You want to put your keywords in search engines and start clicking on the top websites listed in the results.
Study those articles from those websites. Look how often they use the keywords, what type of content they’re writing about, what challenges they’re solving, and what is related.
Try to create an analysis of each of the top three to five websites listed for those keyword results and see how they compare with one another.
Find the similarities and determine if you can rank for those keywords. You might have to use longer-tailed keywords (ones with more words) as an alternative to better rank your blog post.
A Perfect Blog Post Needs a Perfect Format
I suggest using one or the other of two types of blog post formats, Numbered Lists or How-To articles.
Numbered list articles are your “101 ways to…” or the “Top 10 Most Interesting…” type of articles. Do a Google search of any keyword! You’ll quickly realize that most top results are likely numbered list-type articles. People love them! I know I do!
How-to articles are exactly how they sound. You are creating a “How to do…” something-type article that shows a reader how to do something. The vital aspect of this article is to make the instructions simple and easy. You’ll succeed if the topic is a big challenge in the niche.
Whether you choose a Numbered List or a How-To article format, make sure you use trigger words such as “Easy” or “Proven.” These will show your readers that what they are about to read is the best type of content for them. It is a suitable type of clickbait!
I suggest making all your articles either Numbered Lists or How-To formats from here on out, especially if your blog is now.
Long-Form Content is Best but Should be Skimmable!
I had to add “Skimmable” to my dictionary, but it is a real-life word you need to understand as a content creator.
In the old days, we read books. I remember reading before bed. I remember being gipped on every word of the mystery book I was reading. I don’t know the last time that I sat down and read a book word for word.
Smartphones have made our reading levels a bit dumb. We don’t read on the phones; we skim. We keep the screen moving the whole time we read.
Because of that, you need to evolve your content to be Skimmable.
By all means, write long-form meaning many words as long as they are helpful.
But create shorter paragraphs. Use fewer words in a sentence. Make your blog very easy to read on a smartphone.
That makes one heck of a perfect blog post in the end!
A Perfect Blog Post Needs SEO Tactics Integrated
Don’t be scared! Don’t run off!
SEO.
Search Engine Optimization.
It is a term that scares many bloggers because it seems like a difficult task. In reality, it isn’t that difficult to do SEO. You have to turn it into a habitual strategy.
This is how I do it for all my blog posts:
- I use my researched target keywords and place them in my title, URL (slug for WordPress users), Heading H1, and every other heading H2. I make sure it makes sense when you read it. If it doesn’t make sense, you need to reword it until it does.
- I repeat my keyword every couple of sections (or paragraphs) of the post. I try not to overstuff. If you use WordPress, install the Yoast SEO addon. It will help you with keyword placement scoring.
- I make sure to have at least one relevant image uploading as the keyword I am using and also the keyword as the ALT text for the image. Any other pictures don’t need to also share the keyword. Remember, don’t overstuff keywords because it can hurt your ranking because it looks like you’re trying to cheat the system.
- Add a few internal and external links to your post. Ensure the links are relevant to the content and the words you are turning into a link.
And that’s my strategy! See what I mean? It is simple once you keep doing over and over again…
Create Content with a Personal Tone
When you write your blog post, it needs to “sound” personal.
You should write it as if you’re talking to a person one-on-one.
I mean, have you noticed it with this post? I write my posts as if I am exclusively talking to YOU personally.
It feels better. Psychologically, it makes the reading experience a more positive experience.
Don’t talk at people; talk to people!
Use words like “You’re” instead of “You are” because they have a more personal tone.
People want to feel like the content they consume was made for them. Being personal with your writing tone can quickly help accomplish that need.
Grammar Check that Perfect Blog Post
Make sure you check your grammar and spelling before publishing your blog post.
I use a tool called Grammarly, and while they are not a sponsor of mine, I recommend upgrading to their paid version because it is beyond excellent.
As I type this perfect blog post, I see that I have made 42 grammatical errors thus far.
After I am done writing, it will be way more. I miss a lot of commas, and sometimes I use the wrong wording. Grammarly will help me fix that. I don’t choose to accept all their tips, but I do change a lot of stuff.
A post with improper grammar and spelling can ultimately harm your content score, and you don’t need that.
Sometimes editing takes longer than the initial creation, and that’s fine. You will improve and get faster about it the more you write and the more you edit.
And that, my friend, is how you make the perfect blog post. It is that simple. You need to take a strategy like the easy one above and turn it into a habit.
