How to

Start a Mailing List

in

2023

Have you ever wanted to start a mailing list of your own?

It’s time you do it.

It’s 2023, the year of starting new things.

A mailing list is unique. It means people subscribe because they believe in you and what you have to say. It’s the best way to keep a database of your customers because you own that list. You have access to those emails. It’s a great way to market your projects and share them with your subscribers. It’s a great way to make money with advertising or even charge for subscriptions.

You should start a mailing list in 2023.

If you desire to find out how this article is all about teaching you how to do it.

Choose a Provider to Start a Mailing List

Mailchimp. Convert Kit. Constant Contact.

There are so many companies to provide you with services to start a mailing list of your own.

I’ve used Mail Chimp for a long time. I like Mail Chimp. I like the free version of the mailing list provider. But that doesn’t mean that you’ll like it.

The first thing you need to do is research each mailing list service.

You need to find the one that is right for you and your mailing list needs.

There are many providers to start a mailing list with. Likewise, many experts have their preferences. But in the end, you should go with the provider that meets your requirements.

How to get Email Subscribers?

Getting email subscribers isn’t something you can accomplish without working for it.

People don’t want emails from people and brands they don’t know and trust.

I worked on creating content and a reputation for five years before launching a mailing list. I’m not telling you to wait that long before you start a mailing list, but I want you to understand how important it is to work for it.

My advice is to start creating content. Create written content like articles and blog posts. Create social media content. Create video content. Create content! Make sure it’s the best content you’ve ever created. Put work into it. Make it perfect. Good content solves problems. It answers questions. It makes anxious people looking for an answer smile and walk away with what information they desire.

You need to create the best content you can. You need to be consistent about it. Your mission is to get eyes and attention on your content and you. Once you build up a following, you can start a mailing list and get subscribers a lot easier than without a following.

Start a Mailing List with the Intent to Monetize

When you start a mailing list, you should start it to monetize it.

You can either start it as a paid list where subscribers pay to get it, or you can eventually add advertising to it to start earning revenue. Of course, you should advertise your stuff at the start, so subscribers are used to seeing ads in your newsletters.

I’ll be honest with you, if you plan to start a mailing list that will cost money – you better be able to prove its worth. What is going to offer to a community worth spending money to get?

You’re better off starting a free newsletter and eventually creating a paid version after acquiring many subscribers.

It’ll be easier to get them to subscribe to the paid version if you do it that way.

Be Consistent with Your Emails

Don’t get a bunch of subscribers; send a few newsletters, and then forget about it.

You need to send emails consistently. If you dedicate an email daily, you need to send one every day. I would choose a more straightforward route before I went to a daily email campaign.

I send an email once every month. I send it around the same time of the month. I have trained my subscribers to know when to expect my monthly newsletter.

We are human. Occasionally I do forget about the newsletter, but not often. When I forget now and then, my subscribers will start asking me about it thinking they didn’t get it. I apologize to them and send it usually the next day.

Try to be as consistent as you can with your email marketing.

It’s easy to start a mailing list. It just doesn’t become popular overnight. You have to use the tactics listed above to make it popular. It takes work like anything else in 2023. I hope this article has helped you. If it did, and you haven’t followed me on Twitter for more tips, please do so.
